Let’s face it, dog owners, sometimes you need a vacation and you just have to get away from it all. Sometimes you have to leave the dog behind for a few weeks, but that doesn’t mean you can’t provide for them while you are away.
Many people who find themselves in this situation opt to board their dogs in a kennel and there are plenty to choose from. Typically, what you are going to want to do is make sure your dog is up-to-date on all of his or her shots. The last thing you want to come home to is a dog with kennel cough. Also, do your research on these kennels – make sure your canine will have plenty of playtime and interaction with other dogs. Some kennels allow you to leave your dog with his favorite toy and blanket – make sure you do this if the option is available just so your dog has something familiar.
Of course, if you don’t want to board you could always leave your dog at home, but you MUST make sure you have a neighbor or close friend come by to take care of him. If you have one of those fancy Home Security Systems in place, you will need to square that away as well.
And remember, just because you have a dog doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself every now and again. Just make sure your four-legged friend is provided for, first. He’d do the same for you.
